Job Summary
As a Product Manager you will execute the strategic direction of the Shipboard IT product line, create and prioritize digital product specifications, manage feature development and defect backlogs, and ensure alignment with strategic vision and timelines through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Manager to join our IT team. This position will be full-time, hybrid, and is a contract position, renewed semi-annually.
* Must be able to travel for up to 2 weeks quarterly (Europe, Asia, Americas)
What You'll Do
Execute the IT strategic direction of the Shipboard IT product line as provided by the Product Leadership
Create digital product specifications and product definitions, including feature requirements, user stories, and other critical deliverables
Prioritize feature requirements and user stories, and manage them in an agile backlog throughout the development lifecycle
Manage the feature development and defect backlog of the broad development team on a daily basis, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction and newbuild timelines
Ensure the execution of creative assets, such as visual design, content strategy, and copywriting, aligns with the strategic vision and direction of the product
Support multiple cross-functional teams and development studios to ensure a solid understanding of the defined scope
Communicate changes in strategic direction or priority shifts to cross-functional teams
Provide frequent communication to the product leadership on development progress, escalating any issues that could impact the budget, timeline, or strategic vision
Collaborate with organizations across the company to build and manage scope expectations alongside the product leadership
Collaborate with the product team to ensure a seamless experience for guests and employees across all touch points
Provide indirect or direct leadership over Product Analysts (full-time/vendor/contractor) assisting with documenting detailed business rules, acceptance criteria, and test cases, and oversee their day-to-day development
Oversee the development across multiple small development teams and vendors, considering the size and scope of initiatives
What You'll Need
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
Proven experience as a Product Manager or similar role, preferably in the IT industry
Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience managing agile development lifecycles
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Effective communication and leadership abilities
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the cruise industry and shipboard systems is a plus
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
